Gyeongju HICO, the new landmark!

< Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center settles as Gyeongju City's new growth engine. > Gyeongju HICO is being constructed, aiming to be completed by December 2014.

The scale of construction is 42,774㎡ in lot size and 31,307㎡ in gross floor area to house a grand conference room with 3,400 seats, 12 medium/small meeting rooms, and 6,274㎡ indoor/outdoor exhibition halls for large international conferences, academic meetings, seminars, various exhibitions, and performances. This landmark is expected create the new MICE industry in Gyeongju to contribute to the local development.

To increase the management profits of the convention center after opening, it will house commercial facilities occupying about 1,300㎡ space on the basement for the convenience of visitors and users. It is particularly considering relativity with the surrounding facilities from the construction stage for smooth connection of meetings, accommodations, dinners, tourism, etc.

Gyeongju HICO is one of a few international convention centers in Korea. Located in the heart of Bomun Lake Resort, the special tourism district, it is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and various amenities for the accommodations, leisure, experience, and tourism to attract many international organizations, companies, and government organizations for conventions.

Gyeongju Convention & Visitors' Bureau (GJCVB), founded in October 2013 to attract conventions, has already attracted a number of international conventions despite its short activity period, including the World Water Forum, MicroTAS 2015 International Academic Meeting, Korea Pain Society Seminar 2015, YESDEX 2015 (Yeongnam International Scientific Congress & Dental Exhibition), and ICAR Korea 2016 (International Conference on Arabidopsis Reserch), to turn on the green light for the convention center as soon as it opens in 2015.
