< Promised expansion of Chinese sightseeing market and increase of exchange > Gyeongju-si had a signing ceremony for friendly relations with Yichang, Hubei, China on October 18, 2013.

Mayor of Gyeongju-si visited the world's biggest hydroelectric power plant with 18.2 million tons of generation amount and the Three Gorges Dam which is famous for a lock canal capable of entrance of 2 10,000-ton ships before the signing ceremony for friendly relations, and also inspected Yichang LS Hong Qi Cable and Yichang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

Yichang, with a population of 4.2 million, is an entrance of Sanxia and the cradle of Bachu culture--the city has a long historical culture. The city is famous for the natural sceneries, such as Letian Huagu (Letian Flower Valley), Xiling Xia (Xiling Gorge), Jinshi Dong (Jinshi Cave), Songshan Geological Park and Sanxia Tourism Complex.

Mayor of Gyeongju-si and Ma Xuming, Mayor of Yichang signed a written agreement for the maintenance of friendly relations which is helpful for the mutual development by expanding the exchange between the cities, and also had pleasant conversation after the signing. With the signing ceremony for friendly relations as an opportunity, Gyeongju-si and Yichang continues to have active private exchange and cooperation in culture, sports and sightseeing areas.
