< Political Process, Regional Process, Citizen Forum, etc. held in Gyeongju > Preparative general meeting of parties concerned for the successful 7th World Water Forum, which is held for 6 days from April 12 to April 17, 2015 in Daegu and Gyeongbuk(Gyeongsangbuk-do)(Gyeongju), was held in Hyundai Hotel Gyeongju on February 27-28, 2014.

With 7th World Water Forum 1 year ahead, 700 people from 63 countries including 281 foreign—members of academies and associations related with water in the world, experts from research institute, companies, NGOs, etc.—participated in the preparative general meeting and they had a meeting to check overall preparation status of this event scheduled to be held in next year and to discuss about subjects for detailed discussion and programs.

2015 World Water Forum Organizing Committee Chairperson Lee Jeongmoo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Seo Seunghwan, Gyeongju mayor Choi Yangsik, K-Water CEO Choi Gyewoon participated in the opening ceremony, and major foreign guests such as World Water Council president Benedito Braga, Moroccan Water Resources Minister for Special Affairs Charafat Afilal, assistant secretary of Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gabor Baranyai and others participated.

Starting with opening address of the World Water Forum Organizing Committee (Chairperson Lee Jeongmoo), there was a 'Taegeuk' symbol on the official logo launching the performance, memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed to promise a cooperation for the successful opening of 「2015 World Water Forum in Daegu, Gyeonggbuk」.

The event was held in the decentralized locals of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do (Gyeongju)— the opening ceremony, closing ceremony, process per subject, topic, theme, scientific technology process, Expo & Fair will be held in Daegu, and chiefs of state, members of the National Assembly, ministers and heads of local government will participate in the Political Process, Regional Process and High-Level Panels held in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk to seek for the resolution for water problem and to encourage the political action.

Especially, civil organizations and college students in the world will gather and discuss the importance and usage of water and the resolution for dispute at Citizen Forum, which will be held as a grassroots (non-profit citizen) discussion in Gyeongju.

The Gyeongju mayor thereupon said, "Gyeongju will have a good opportunity to make a new launch with water related issues due to the increased brand value as a tourist destination city by attracting attention of world and potential visitors coming to major events, such as Political Processes and Citizen Forums with the participation of chief and cabinet members of governments, held in Gyeongju, and also the entering of local water company into the 400 billion dollar water market by promoting development of water industry and expansion of the water market."
