‘The Water Olympics’ – The 7th World Water Forum

< April 12, 2015 – April 17, 2015, the largest in history… A great opportunity to introduce the wonderful complexity of the water industry. > ‘The 7th World Water Forum’, the world’s greater event of water known as the ‘Water Olympics’, will be held at Daegu EXCO and Gyeongju HICO in Gyeongbuk for 6 days from April 12 through 17.

With ‘Implementation’ set as the core value, the World Water Forum will invite about 35,000 people from about 170 countries, including the summits, ministers/vice ministers, international organizations, academic seminars, entrepreneurs, NGOs, and general citizens.

This event will consist of four major programs—programs by topic, political programs, scientific technology programs, and regional programs—and nearly 400 sessions and various special events, including the side events for the public, and will be the largest in scale in the history of Water Forum.

Starting with the opening ceremony on April 12, the programs by topic, scientific technology programs, and EXPO will be held in Daegu, while the political programs, regional programs, and citizen forum will be held in Gyeongju concurrently.

‘The programs by topic’ will be the core programs of World Water Forum and discuss various topics related to climate change, natural disasters, and many more with various interested persons from Korea and abroad.
*About 130 sessions under 16 topics.

‘‘The scientific technology program’ has been added to the 7th World Water Forum based on Korea’s suggestion to share the latest technologies and information related to water and to bridge the technical divide between advanced and developing countries.
*38 sessions under 5 cores

‘The political programs’ will be attended by the ministers, national assembly members, and local government leaders of many countries for constructive discussions. The outcomes of discussions from other programs are finally agreed upon and written as political declarations through the political programs.
*About 30 sessions including 8 round tables of ministers/vice-ministers, legislative help desk of national assembly members, and 4 local government programs.

‘The regional programs’ will discuss the current issues related to water by bringing up the water issues confronted by the interested persons in various regions around the world.
*About 50 sessions consisting of four basic continents (Asia-Pacific, Europe, America, and Africa) and three bridging continents (Middle East, Mediterranean, and regions with water shortage).

The global Expo & Fair for the water industry will be held at Daegu EXCO throughout the World Water Forum and invite many related multinational companies and nations for cooperation in the water industry.
*About 950 booths for 150 entities from 34 countries.

In addition to the major programs, there will also be various cultural events, Korean Wave concerts, and film festivals around the venues in Daegu and Gyeongju to attract the attention of many participants and the local people.
