< The commencement of the hospitable service training program 2011 for the taxi drivers is held. > Tourists visiting Gyeongju, Koreans and foreigners alike, will receive hospitable services along with guides to Gyeongju's history and culture when using taxis.

The hospitable service training program for taxi drivers, hosted by the Shilla Cutural Center and supported by the Visit Korea Committee, ended on September 1 and had its commencement ceremony on the 6th. This year's program, second from the last, began on June 9 and comprised a total of 11 sessions of 99 hours that focused on guiding and hospitable service rendering in Gyeongju. Gyeongju's cultural heritages, gourmet restaurants, and customer satisfaction services were included in the program.

Some forty drivers that took the training courses will wear special uniforms, offer diverse tourist information and have their taxis marked with the symbol, "Reception 1000 years." These taxis will be available on reservation at ☎054-775-7979.

The mayor of Gyeongju claimed, at the commencement, that the most competitive quality in tourism should be hospitality, and asked the taxi drivers to serve as tourist guides to introduce tourist attractions with hospitable services. He then promised to grope for various policies to help enhance healthy transportation services.

Particularly, this year's training program is expected to have even better outcome inasmuch as the drivers of the taxis "Reception 1000 years" have voluntarily committed to the program with a view to introducing Gyeongju with whole-hearted hospitality.

On June 28, on the other hand, the conductors of city buses and the drivers of company or private taxis also had the opportunity to attend the city's training program on the fundamentals and hospitality that those at transportation services need to have.

This training program is expected to give positive images to the tourists and to contribute to the successful hosting of Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2011, 2011 Gyeongju Ttheok(rice cake) and Sul(liquor) Festival, and UNWTO(World Tourism Organization).
