< Vitalization of local medical tourism > Gyeongju-si had a ribbon-cutting of International Healing Center for vitalization of local medical tourism and international Western and Korean medical tourism. It was held at event hall of International Healing Center of Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital on June 3, 2013, and Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Mayor of Gyeongju-si, Lee Gyeyoung President of Dongguk University Gyeongju Campus and Shim Jaechul Director of Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital participated.

International Western and Korean medical tourism and healing center which will be constructed in the site of Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital is a facility for physical examination on and healing of domestic residents and foreigners. Construction of reinforced concrete buildings was started from February 2012--its site area is 813.59㎡, total floor space of building is 4,589.94㎡, and it is a six-story building with a floor of basement.

The main facilities in the center are relationship healing and the integrative functional medical research institute and research facility on the first floor, health promotion center for domestic residents and foreign medical tourists on the second to fourth floor, and healing center space on fifth and sixth floors. The integrative functional medical center where provides a new type of treatment service by increasing the natural healing ability with the usage of advantages of modern medicine and scientifically proven alternative complementary therapy, and the first relationship healing center in hospitals were open.

A solution for the fundamental social issues (divorce, suicide, juvenile crime, stress, etc.) and consultation, treatment and education program for recovery of community will be operated by inviting the world-famous relationship healing expert. Premium cosmetic surgery room with existing skin care shop is planned to be open on sixth floor--patients will be diagnosed and treated by dermatologist directly.

Also, the Korean medicine examination room with radiologic examination (MRI, etc.), diagnostic medical examination, meridian system, acupuncture and cupping therapy, facilities of healing center where heals body and mind with Western and Korean medicine such as treatment room, meditation, yoga, therapeutic exercise, anti-stress, healing food, etc., and various education program will be operated.

It will be the international healing Mecca which provides natural and cultural medicine, Western and Korean medicine to treat the body and mind of residents in Gyeongsangbuk-do visiting Gyeongju, domestic and foreign tourists by taking advantage of the limitless potential in global cultural heritage, long history and custom, culture and art of Gyeongju, a millenary capital.

International Western and Korean medical tour and healing center lets local residents to have physical examinations in a comfortable and pleasant space, promotes the higher value-added medical tourism as a regional growth power in preparation for the increased demand of foreign medical tourists coming to Gyeongju, and contributes to the job creation and regional economic vitalization through that growth power.

Also, various programs related with healing including mind and body integrated relationship healing programs for the recovery of families in the community are operated at the hospital for the first time in Korea. By taking advantage of the potential of such as global cultural, opening of the KTX, etc., Gyeongju will take a role of bridgehead for advancement to international healing Mecca.
