< New experience tourism in Gyeongju > Opening ceremony for operation of Jewel Beetle Electric Vehicle, which is being proceeded by Gyeongju-si with the purpose of usage in historical site and providing a different experiential program, was opened on March 28, 2013 in the grass park next to Cheomseongdae (Observatory) in Eastern Historical Site.

Event prior to the ceremony including Pungmul Band (Korean Folk Band) performance, Daegeum (Traditional Korean flute) performance, Samulnori (Korean traditional percussion quartet), etc. was stared, and after the ceremonial event, participants get on the Jewel Beetle Electric Vehicle.

Jewel Beetle Electric Vehicle is a jewel beetle symbol (Natural Monument No. 496) used since 1,500 years ago on saddle ornament found in Hwangnamdaechong (Tomb). The symbol was embodied and produced as eco-friendly open type.

2 vehicles are connected and 22 passengers can seat. It runs 2.9km of the following route for about 15 times a day: Gyerim Forest (Chicken Forest), Gyeongju Hyanggyo Confucian School, itional House of the Choe Family and Gyochon Village, Woljeonggyo (Bridge), Flower Field, Wolseong Promotion Hall and ticket office.

Test ride was done on 1,200 Gyeongju citizen from February 25 for 30 days, and it will give expression of joyfulness to the tourists from March 29.
